SERGIO  MARIANI

Born in 1960 in Buenos Aires, Argentina and raised during the years of military government, Sergio Mariani arrived to the U.S. on Christmas 1991 and never looked back. 

In Buenos Aires he acquired  extensive experience as a sailor, commercial diver, TV producer -in charge of the production of ten weekly shows- and documentary films producer.  He served in the Argentinean Army as a scout for the airborne artillery group 4 (GAAEROT 4) and also worked with Nobel Peace Price recipient Adolfo Perez-Esquivel in a project to help underprivileged children. 

In past ten years he worked as a Deputy Sheriff in Montana, State Trooper and Chief of Police in Wyoming.  He is a certified Peace Officer in the states of Montana, Wyoming and Colorado, and has over two thousand hours of Law Enforcement professional training.  He served as a firearms and ethics instructor.

Presently he is an investigator working for the Special Operations Unit of the Office of the Inspector General, Colorado Department of Corrections.  Along with a team of 29 criminal investigators, 2 Correctional Lieutenants, 2 K-9 handlers, and 7 administrative support personnel, Mariani is involved in backgrounds, drug, murder and sexual misconduct investigations

“CLOSURE” – Autobiography 

Sometimes people close to me ask why I like being a cop.  I don't have an answer because I don't really know.  Looking back on the case of Kristy Jones, a teenage girl found dead from what appeared to be an unattended death, a case that took me into a web of drug dealers, illegal immigrants and gangs, I could say, it reaches a point in which it is so far beyond the fact of liking it or not. 

I know that if I hadn’t been there, then nobody would have figured out the real circumstances of her death, of her parent’s immense pain and helplessness, and of the cold interests profiting  from the victimization of our youth behind the scenes in a small town in Montana, where people suppose to be free of the kind of dangers that frequent the big cities and oozes like a lethal oil into small communities.
