David D. Holt grew up on reading science fiction, treasure hunting and has a mind for story telling.  David who is both now a disabled navy veteran and disabled law enforcement officer began his writing career in 1994 and has had fourteen articles published with Western & Eastern Treasures Magazine 1994-2001.

 A SUMMARY OF THE BOOKS :

 “UNDERGROUND” - Near Welaka, Fl.- The once quiet tranquil setting of south Putnam County Florida, whose fictional population increase in the novel puts it well past half a million residents, the scene takes place totally in south Putnam County except for brief excursions around the globe, all to set up the plot.  The novel begins as Preston Rhodes; a geologist is running from Hurricane Floyd as it rips up the coast of Florida after studying the effects of a sink hole in the southern part of the state, one of many that plague the state with sudden destruction and sometimes death.  When Preston is handed another assignment, only this assignment is unlike anything he has ever had in his life.  Preston finds himself on loan from the United States Geological Survey in Jacksonville and working for a group of businessmen who are determined to make money at any cost on a massive project that will take nearly two years to complete.    

          Bill Ollie and his group, who call themselves “The Conglomerate,” are hatching a multi-million dollar construction project pitting south Putnam with the world’s longest mall.  They’ve called it “Freedom Mall” and on an international scale.  Hundreds of foreign companies are signing up to occupy one of nearly three thousand stores in this mile long-three story mall.  Only that they know that the mall is sitting on top of a recently discovered fault line after construction begins thus leading to disaster with or without the help of a terrorist known as “The Viper”.  This terrorist is the world’s most hunted man, involved in assassinations worldwide including the latest hit on Muammar al-Qaddafi.  Unknown to the Conglomerate, who has teamed up with the White House for this event and one of which has personal ties with the President, are the next target of the Viper, who has been hired by the Al Qaeda to take out not only President Bush, but also Russia’s President Putin and England’s Prime Minister Blair who are attending Freedom Mall’s opening night ceremony’s.

     But as luck would have it, Mother Nature would play a part in saving their lives along with several heroes and plenty of firepower by law enforcement and National Guard.  However, ulterior motives drive some to play with the very essence of life and death.  The opening night ceremonies, bringing together in a race against time: the worlds most influential and powerful men along with terrorists, sink holes and hurricane force winds, rain and other unimaginable danger make this an adrenaline-packed thriller, Underground will surely pull readers in and hold them in the jaws of terror, mystery and intrigue until the last, gasping page.

“DEME T DRON” -  Steven Brandt, (a disabled anthropologist) is out on a routine hunting trip where he finds himself in a precariously and dangerous situation when he is suddenly the victim of sudden geological event.  This geological event will transport him deep within the earth through a sink hole to another world-A lost world far under the earth’s surface.   The electrifying ride down is not without its bumps, twists and turns as Steven is injured on the way down.  Given up all hope of survival, Brandt assumes that he is going to die until the sensation of the fall starts to stop; hope starts to shimmer in his heart as he struggles within the tomb of earth until he reaches empty space.  Doctoring himself up as best he could, he ventured out into the cave exploring while finding the caves entrance where he was astounded by the sight before him.   Looking out, the cavern he was standing in opened up to a much larger cavern teeming with jungle and volcano’s off in the distance.  Weeks would pass as he heeled, living off of the land until he was able to travel, to explore this unknown world-deep within the earth, marveling at the hidden wonders amid terrible horrors to being captured!

“THE CRATER”

The books starts off with a huge sink hole that forms in the Ocala National Forest, one that is so deep, more than a mile down, that it briefly opens a doorway of a pre-historic world, to our world, allowing a predator to escape into our world.  Paleontologist James King, who is sent to the crater, finds a discovery that will change the world of paleontology forever as the death toll mounts as attacks take place first from the Croaker Hole, then Sunset Landing to Willow Cove all on the St. Johns River.  Along with Dr. King, Dr. Saddler joins the team, bringing the sensitive GSAN data and technology which in turn is being sought by a secret military government research facility from deep inside a Georgia mountain.  Mr. Robards, an eccentric fossil collector, offers an outrageous reward for the capture of the prehistoric predator which is blatantly monopolized by the press and a greedy general who will stop at nothing to collect the reward.  Major Holt, (an aid and second in command with General Rhodes of the government research facility referred to as the W.A.R.), assists the group with a special weapon stemming from Dr. Saddler’s GSAN technology whom he tries to track down and attempt to capture or kill the vicious predator.  Everyone in the group understands that no place and no one are safe as long as the creature is stalking the rivers surrounding this tiny secluded community called Welaka.
