Retired senior scientist of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Government of India. For about three year he also served the Ministry of Environment & Forest.Govt. of India, as environmental officer.

At the time of his retirement he was holding a senior position in the editorial office of the National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources, Govt. of India.

He have more than 33 years experience of science editing/writing. During this period Mr. Karki had published several scientific and popular science articles in national and international journals.

Mr. Karki was editor of the Paryavaran Abstracts- an abstracting service on environmental science & technology brought out by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. of India.

A SUMMARY OF THE BOOK : Environment Encyclopaedia

There is a paramount need for creating a consciousness of the environment. It must permeate all ages and all sections of society, beginning with the child. Environmental consciousness should be integral part of teaching in the schools and colleges. The book is user-friendly encyclopaedia of environmental science & technology, which could be useful for students as well as for those who nurture an interest in environmental science. Emphasis is on the popular topics of the field. There is about 300 selected terms. Since environment and science are a multidisciplinary subject, these terms are from areas like atmospheric science, environmental pollution and control, environmental engineering, ecology, wildlife, natural history, nature and natural resources conservation, endangered biological heritage, forestry, toxicology and hazardous substances. Besides, individual or institutions will find a place in it for their contributions to the field. It is profusely illustrated. Since the target group of the publication is very large, it will have broad market appeal.
